Candy
and Kevin
are finally
married!
Candy and Kevin were married on Friday, May 26th 2006. There is quite a story behind this relationship; here is some of the history...
Candy and I started dating in 1983. Her daughter, Adrianne Nicole, was 5 months old. We met because of our brothers. My brother, Tim, plays many musical instruments, electric guitar is one of them, although he is more recognized for his award winning banjo playing. Her brother, Jim, plays many musical instruments as well. Jimmy is a well seasoned bass player, and a great vocalist from a family of excellent singers. Jimmy and Tim had a Country/Rock band together, called the "Ranglers". I had been running sound for a local rock band, and when it broke up, my brother asked me if I would consider running sound for the Ranglers. I agreed, and at the first or second place we played after joining the band, I met Candy. I instantly fell in love. After dating for a few months and our relationship had strengthened, Candy and I got engaged. We spent a lot of time together, I had a great time helping to raise "Addy" (Adrianne's nickname). As Addy got older and was learning to talk, my nickname was created. Addy couldn't say Kevin; "Kuggie" was what came out, and it stuck.
My mother, raised on old-school values, didn't like the relationship. While I believe she had nothing against Candy or Addy personally, she didn't like the "ready made family" situation, as she had said as much. Because of this, and some other circumstances beyond our control, Candy and I parted under good terms after being together for nearly 3 years. I made Candy promise when Addy graduated High School, she would contact me so I could see them. In June of 2001, I got a letter from Candy inviting me to Addy's graduation party. I attended the party, and everyone reminisced about the years gone by.
Then in the fall of 2004, Candy and I found ourselves together, once again. After being through a few failed marriages of our own, it was a wonderful day when we decided to restart the relationship. In many ways, it was like we never parted. Our house is simple and treasured. Folks usually don't get a second chance at a relationship, and Candy and I are very aware of that fact and thank the Lord for allowing our paths to come together, once again. Both of my parents and Candy's father are now passed on, so her mother, Doris, is the glue that holds the big family picture all together.
May 26 2006, starts Chapter 23 in a very long book.
